Would you recommend that our location have a suction device? I am wondering about our liability in not having one if we've been trained on it.

Our objective is to provide accurate and effective training materials.  We are not recommending for or against the use of hand suction device.  The use of hand suction device has been included in the new ASHI CPR PRO materials (October 2009) as an optional segment.  The recommendation for the use of a specific devices needs to be made at the organizational level and based on the number of factors such as potential need, dedication of training, current use by others in your industry, and the opinion of your local medical director.

When using an AED with a child, should you put one pad on the front of the child and one on the back?
Correct pad placement for the child is indicated by the manufacturer of the AED device you are using. The most common placement is posterior/anterior placement that we show in the programs. You should consult the user or operator guide for your device to determine if there are any additional directions from the manufacturer of your device.
